Our Projects

Annual Local Grants

Because Rotary is an International Organization, Rotarians pay dues that go into the Rotary Foundation. However, much of the money paid comes back to the Club and the Upper Perk Valley through grants. The focus of the grant must fall into one of Rotary's seven Areas of Focus.

2022-2023 Rotary Year: Two Little Free Libraries (Grant approved, and final project is coming soon!)

2021-2022 Rotary Year: Books on "Tape" purchased and donated to the Upper Perk Library

2020-2021 Rotary Year: Small grants for building drive-thru meals to distribute through The Open Link during the pandemic

2019-2020 Rotary Year: Shed for the Community Garden

2018-2019 Rotary Year: New refrigerator for The Open Link Senior Center to help with community meals

2017-2018 Rotary Year: New computers purchased and donated to the Upper Perk Library

Work with The Open Link

In additional to grants, we at Upper Perk Rotary try to help the community throughout the year as we are able to meet needs in our community as they arise. We have a strong relationship with The Open Link as they have intimate knowledge of the needs in our community.

Members got together and built picnic tables after purchasing kits when The Open Link reached out to ask for our help in providing new tables outside their center in March 2023.

Through The Open Link, Upper Perk Rotary participates in Community Meals twice a year. Favorite meals we've made and served include Breakfast for Dinner and Kielbasa & Pierogies!

Little Free Library

Upper Perk Rotary Club is currently the steward of two libraries located in the Valley. One was built by former Upper Perk Rotarian Justin Kresge and the other by WMCTC student Kaylyn Adair, installed June 2023.

Two more libraries are in the works from our 2022-2023 Grant.

Highway Cleanup

One of the very first projects taken on by the club after its new charter in 2017 was the Highway Cleanup, completed twice a year. You can find our Club's mile of Route 663 heading out of town over the reservoir!
