Teacher from Upper Perk High School, Transition Coordinator for the UP Work Program
Apr 19, 2023 6:30 PM
Shane spoke to us early on in our Club's existence about the Transition Program that exists in the Upper Perkiomen School District to find job placements for students in the Special Education Department. A few of our Club members were so touched by his presentation that they actual opened their businesses up to provided placements for these students! |

1st May Meeting of the Rotary Club of Upper Perk. This meeting will be a BYO food/drinks so we can get the most use out of the available time. This meeting will be a "Committees Meeting" mainly focusing on Fundraising and the 4th of July with time available to discuss other necessary items/projects. Help will be needed as we will be folding the sponsor letters for the 4th and stuffing the envelopes so we can get them in the mail. |

Hello Rotarians! We made some awesome progress on the Pavilion Wednesday 5/31 yet we still have work to do. Thank you to all who were able to come out. We have several areas that need a second coat of paint yet and some other items to paint. We will meet again at 6pm to get started. Some of us will be there by 5:30 if you would like to arrive a little earlier. For those who were unable to attend and may have not seen the Facebook posts, I have attached some of the before, during and after images to this email.

Good afternoon UP Rotarians, I have been keeping an eye all day on the forecasted path and severity of the smoke in the area for this evening. Given the current conditions and the possibility that it will get worse this evening before it improves, I feel it is best that we postpone the pavilion painting. We will do our best to find a time to complete it prior to the 4th of July so we can display pictures of the project, even if it means doing it during the roof project. It simply is not worth people getting sick or overwhelmed by the smoke and ash. That said, I would still like to have a Zoom meeting at 6pm this evening so we can discuss the 4th of July and any other items that may need discussing. Hope to see you online tonight (those who are not at graduations or classes that is). Bob Bob McCarty is inviting you to a scheduled Zoom meeting. This is our Annual Changeover Meeting. We are sending this invite out earlier than usual so we can decide how we want to handle the food for this meeting. Please RSVP as soon as you can so we have a count. Spouse/Friend/Guest welcome, please be sure to register them as well for the food count. After installation of our officers, we will have discussion on what needs to be finalized for the 4th of July. We will attempt to keep this meeting short as we have the pavilion roof removal (weather permitting) the next day at 3pm. While our President Term is now a two year term which ends at the end of 23/24, and our Secretary and Treasurer will not change, we still need to officially Install all of our Officers for the 23/24 Rotary Year. Our Vice President will also be installed as President Elect and we will have a new Vice President to Install. We will be joined by District 7430 District Governor Len and his wife Kirsten as well as our Area 6 Assistant Governor Suzi Berry. Len will be conducting the installation of our officers. As of now, we are planning to have this meeting at Bob & Jen's house as we did a couple years ago (and as we planned last year but Mother Nature had other plans). If the weather is questionable at all, the location will change to Valley Lock & Door. |

Hello Upper Perk Rotarians, As of this minute, we are still moving forward with the roof tear off this Thursday at 3pm. Please RSVP if you are able to help or not so we know how many people we have. Again, please feel free to bring spouses/family/friends/etc. that could get on the roof and help tear it off. The more people we have the faster it will go. I just spoke with the contractor and we will make the final decision tomorrow around lunch if we are moving forward or postponing due to the forecast. The forecast is changing by the minute but for the most part, it is improving. Thank you! Bob |

All hands on deck for our big fundraiser and community event! Help will be needed on 7/3 for setup of multiple items and on 7/5 for breakdown, mainly of the fireworks perimeter and anything that did not get finished the evening of 7/4. If you are available to help setup on 7/3 please send me an email, I do not want to send too many event invites out at one time. Help will be needed with items such as: Setting up the parking lot perimeter; Setting up the Fireworks Launch Area safety perimeter; picking up the Ice Cream from Hometown Creamery; pre-scooping the Ice Cream; Getting the Concession Stand stocked and staged; and more. For 7/4 time slots, please register through this event AND on the Sign Up Genius: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/30e0545abae23abfa7-4thofjuly#/ Help is needed throughout the entire day, please consider signing up for more than one time slot if you are available. Please feel free to also register any friends and family that would be able to help as well. I know this is a holiday and it is a long day, the funds from this event are what keep our club moving forward and able to complete the projects we do as well as new ones that will come about. This is also great exposure in the community for our club and the community appreciates us keeping this long-time tradition alive. The more help we have, the easier the day will go for everyone. Steve Hill and I will arrive at the park as early as 6am to open up and start setting stuff up, you are welcome to join us earlier than the first time slot on Sign Up Genius if you are available. Thank you all in advance. The forecast for the day keeps improving and I look forward to another successful Hometown 4th of July Celebration! |

Good Morning Rotarians, This week's meeting was originally going to be a Potluck meeting, however I know of a handful of us who were recently exposed to Covid from multiple sources. While we are all clear still, I feel it is best that we just do this meeting on Zoom to not risk spreading it. Chances are, if any of us who were exposed end up getting it, we'll most likely have it by then. Please register to this invitation if you are able to attend so we know who all to expect.
